Upgrade your Peugeot 205 Mi16 Swap with a fully modern engine management solution, built around one of the latest MaxxECU standalone ECU systems. This conversion is designed to bring contemporary reliability, flexibility, and performance to a classic platform without losing the character that makes the Mi16 so special.

Over time, many Mi16s suffer from ageing and corroded wiring, often compounded by poor-quality repairs. These issues can lead to persistent electrical faults and unreliable performance. Our conversion is designed to eliminate those weaknesses entirely, replacing outdated systems with a clean, modern solution that you can depend on.

At the heart of the upgrade is a MaxxECU standalone ECU. Known for its reliability and advanced capabilities, MaxxECU offers a feature-rich platform with a user-friendly interface, support for advanced control strategies, and powerful tools such as 4D tables. Compared to many of the more commonly outdated ECUs used on this platform, it provides significantly greater flexibility, processing capability, and long-term support (continuous updates) – making it a far more capable foundation for both road and performance builds.

For ECUs equipped with Bluetooth functionality, there is also support for MaxxECU MDash, allowing you to integrate a clean, modern digital dashboard into your setup for real-time data monitoring and a completely updated driving experience.

This conversion isn’t limited to stock engines or individual throttle body setups. We also support turbocharged applications, although these naturally require additional care during installation and calibration to ensure everything performs as it should.

The process begins with a complete overhaul of the engine bay electronics. The original relay box is removed and replaced with a modern, fully sealed fusebox, neatly relocated beneath the driver’s side dash for improved protection and accessibility. Alongside this, we install a completely new engine harness, covering every critical component—from fuel pump and cooling fan control through to sensors, ignition, and engine management systems.

All essential wiring is replaced, including connections for the starter motor, oil pressure and temperature senders, coolant sensors, alternator excitation, crank position sensor, injectors, throttle position sensor, idle control, and more. The result is a clean, reliable electrical system built to modern standards.

Ignition options are tailored to suit your build. As standard, we offer a wasted spark coilpack conversion using custom HT leads, along with a distributor blanking cap that integrates the coilpack mount. For those looking to take things further, a coil-on-plug upgrade is available. This can be paired with either a simple blanking cap or an integrated cam sensor, enabling full sequential ignition and fuelling for maximum control and efficiency.

We also offer a range of optional extras to complement the conversion. These include upgraded battery cables, welding in a lambda boss if your exhaust doesn’t already have one, and cam sensor retrofitting where required. If there’s something specific you have in mind that isn’t listed; such as E-throttle conversions or other custom features-please don’t hesitate to get in touch, as we’re always happy to discuss tailored solutions.

For customers looking for something more unique or a slightly different platform, we also design and build fully bespoke standalone ECU packages for one-off projects. Due to the bespoke nature of this work, all installations are carried out by appointment only. We recommend getting in touch to discuss your build requirements-whether standard or custom- and to secure a workshop slot.

Additional work may be required upon arrival, if something is deemed to be unsafe before dyno testing is carried out. This is charged at the workshop hourly rate and will be communicated with you for approval. For reference, this could include items like perished fuel lines or injector cleaning required, etc, but is not limited to.
