Build Overview

This Volkswagen Golf Mk2 came to us already running a Syvecs S6. It worked well, and we’d previously achieved a 9.66 @ Santapod (PB) in the quarter mile with it, but the system was starting to show its age, mainly in terms of I/O, with pretty much every pin already in use.

We upgraded the car to a MaxxECU Pro to give us far more flexibility going forward. The additional I/O allows for proper expansion, with more sensors, more control strategies, and a lot more freedom in how the car can be set up and developed.

It’s also a system we’ve had consistently good results with. It’s straightforward to work with, but more than capable on higher power builds like this / advance users.

As part of the conversion, we updated the bulkhead connector, added wiring for additional sensors and control functions, and built a new harness to suit. We also installed a MaxxECU MDash, while retaining the existing rotary switch setup for boost control and fuel selection.

With the new system in place, the car went on the dyno for calibration. We ran into some issues with RPM pickup and wheelspin on the day, but still saw over 900bhp.

We’ve continued to support the car at the track since, making further setup changes along the way and achieving a new personal best.
